Peter Latham

Peter Latham is a New Zealand fine art landscape photographer. He got bitten by the photography bug at an early age. Back when we used to process films the old fashioned way and you only got to see the photos much later. He found the whole process quite magical and was hooked! Constantly seeking new inspiration, Peter conducts extensive research to uncover fresh subjects and locations that engage his audience. Much depends on being in the right place at right time, thinking on one’s feet & capturing the light at just the right moment. It’s a combination that demands a trained eye and a lot of dedication and patience.

Peter prints all his own work using a large format printer with archival pigment inks onto acid- free canvas or 100% cotton-rag fine art paper. These processes are state of the art and the materials used are the highest quality available. Print permanence ratings were published in 2007 by the Wilhelm Research Institute of California, rating the print permanence of the processes and materials Peter uses to be greater than 250 years (indoors). His first book “Looking For The Light” was released in 2017 to wide acclaim and in the same year, he completed a series of large installations for Auckland International Airport, showcasing the NZ landscape on an extraordinary scale. His stunning latest book, “Land of Light” is available at Art by the River in signed editions.
