Contemporary New Zealand Artists Represented at Art by the River
Art by the River represents and exhibits a curated selection of leading contemporary New Zealand artists. Our focus is on work of enduring quality and depth — including painters, sculptors, photographers and mixed media practitioners whose practice contributes meaningfully to the story of contemporary art in Aotearoa.
The artists we work with bring diverse perspectives and approaches, from atmospheric interpretations of landscape and figurative subjects to abstraction, material exploration and conceptual inquiry. Many are widely recognised within New Zealand’s art community and are collected nationally and internationally.
Based in Whanganui, the gallery connects collectors with original works by artists from across the country — those with established reputations alongside voices that are continuing to evolve. Each artist is selected for their distinctive vision, technical strength and the resonance of their work within contemporary New Zealand art.
We understand that choosing art is both personal and considered.
