Bruce Weber (b. 1946) is an American photographer and filmmaker renowned for his evocative, black-and-white portraits that blend classic Americana with sensuality and nostalgia. Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Weber began his artistic journey studying film at New York University and photography with Lisette Model at The New School. His early work in the 1970s gained prominence through publications like GQ, where his intimate and cinematic style redefined fashion photography. Over the decades, Weber has collaborated with iconic brands such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Abercrombie & Fitch, creating campaigns that have become emblematic of American youth culture.
Beyond commercial photography, Weber has directed several films, including the acclaimed Let's Get Lost (1988), a documentary about jazz musician Chet Baker, which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. His artistic reach extends to publishing; he founded Little Bear Press, which produces books and the independent arts magazine All-American.
Weber’s photographic prints and editions are sought after by collectors worldwide. His work regularly appears at major auction houses and galleries, where it commands respect and interest, reflecting his significant impact on contemporary photography.
