Echoes of an Introvert by Lyndy Wilson
'Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide' (D W Winnicott)
Yes, I am an introvert and this tension is my daily reality.
Echoes of an Introvert is visual manifestation of the quiet spaces we inhabit and the internal voices we rarely share aloud.
Each painting serves as a bridge, a way to communicate without making a sound, a way to be seen while remaining safely hidden behind a canvas.
I painted these works as a response to my day-to-day existence, a bit like a visual diary.
Living above the Waikato River gives me endless inspiration. The light at different times of day, its moodiness and beauty all appear and motivate me.
Colour, form and the way flowers evoke memories of special people and times make my floral pieces a total joy to create and the urge is always stronger to paint them in the spring.
I explore the human condition in my figurative work. The stories they tell are for the interpretation, and I enjoy when some viewers recognise themselves or other others in the work.
I hope you enjoy this exhibition and much as I did in creating it.
