Liverpool Hut is one of New Zealand's most iconic backcountry huts, perched high above the Matukituki Valley in Mount Aspiring National Park. The eight-bunk hut sits at around 1,070 metres and rewards trampers with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The hut is reached via a steep climb from the West Matukituki Valley Track near Raspberry Flat, making it a popular overnight destination for experienced trampers and a base for climbers heading deeper into the Southern Alps. Originally built in 1966, Liverpool Hut has become a much-loved part of New Zealand's tramping heritage.
