Andrew Scott

International Contemporary Artist Known for Breaking the Frame

Andrew Scott (b. 1991) is a contemporary American artist whose distinctive works challenge the conventional relationship between an artwork and its frame. Best known for his Frame Experiments, Scott creates figures that appear to interact physically with their surroundings – pushing, breaking, bending and escaping the boundaries of the frame itself.

Scott's work first reached a huge international audience through social media, where videos of his frame experiments have attracted more than one billion views. What began as an exploration of the frame as part of the artwork has developed into a highly recognisable body of work, combining drawing, physical construction and visual illusion.

Rather than simply containing the image, Scott's frames become integral to each composition. Figures strain against them, shatter them or move beyond them, creating works in which the traditional boundary between image and object is deliberately disrupted.

Scott is based in the United States and his work has been exhibited internationally and acquired by collectors around the world.
