"The selkie is an Irish figure- a beautiful woman/seal who comes ashore, discards her seal skin, attracts a fisherman who catches her and keeps her in his house. He has found her skin and has hidden it so that she has to live on land- hence marooned selkie. She’s an outsider on land. I’m attracted to the inside / outside notion relating to women’s bodies."
